Sports Pool. Swimming Pool on Steroids

April 29th, 2010

Swimming pool on steroids. Ok, Ok…that’s somewhat of an exaggeration! But there is just so much fun and sillyness to be had when you have your own sports pool.

There’s really many names that come to mind when thinking of this kind of pool. Some call it a sports poo, a play pool, ‘fun in the sun’ pool, volleyball pool, or just plain swimming pool.

But what makes this type of pool unique?

Well, whatever you decide to call it, a sports pool is a great choice for an active family. There’s usually plenty to do for everyone and they are relatively safer than most typical swimming pools.

A sports pool is usually no deeper than five feet. The two ends of the pool are shallow enough to stand waist deep in with the deepest part being in the middle, this makes it ideal to play in since no one will have the unfair “on the tip of my toes”, or “I can’t swim” disadvantage.

Some of the most popular uses for a sports pool include water games such as volleyball, basketball, water polo, and the infamous “Marco!….Polo!”.

You can also use your pool as an exercise pool (wataerobics) and to swim laps. That is an excellent way to get your cardiovascular system up and running.

There are also many accessories that go very well with a sports pool, for example, a water slide can be added for some “extra fun”. Typically, the middle of a sports swimming pool will be the deepest, therefore, it would the ideal spot to land from the water slide. All you have to do is sit back and watch the smiles abound.

There are virtually endless possiblities with a sports pool, I mean, play pool..no, wait…’fun in the sun’ pool. Well, whatever, just get a sports pool and have a blast!

Having Fun With Outdoor Sports

I love playing outdoor sports though all things considered I’m not much of a jock. The great thing about outdoors sports is that while enjoying a small dose of friendly competition, you can enjoy the boons nature bestow upon us as well as getting some good exercise. It’s a great way of spending quality time taking all things into account. To me going to the gym, workout on treadmills is a waste of time although a number of my friends opt for them. I could never understand the logic of spending time walking while watching a TV when you can play outdoor sports and have a fun time enjoying nature.

Provided that the weather is right, its great that you can play almost any sports outdoors. In summer, you can play soccer, baseball, basketball and most of the sports you can come up with outdoors. However most people give up on outdoor sports during the rainy and cold seasons. It’s a big mistake in my opinion since there are lots of sports suitable for snow, freezing cold and rain that you can indulge in. In the snow you can go cross-country skiing, dirt bike racing in the mud are few examples. Almost all year round you can play outdoor sports if you just use your imagination. » Read more: Having Fun With Outdoor Sports

Number of gears that are required is the only drawback of outdoors sports. The high expenses of these gears give the advantage to the gyms. You get exercise machines, sports equipment, a swimming pool and court where you can play some sports in your typical gyms. But you have to furnish yourself all of the supplies when you go to play sports outdoors. Most people cannot afford many of the outdoors sports or are reluctant to invest money required on those they can. » Read more: Having Fun With Outdoor Sports
